IPOH: The state government has called on land owners in the state to stop all livestock activities on land not originally gazetted for such purposes.
Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir said some land owners have converted their land to carry out other activities.
“They must follow the conditions and not convert it for other purposes.
“We have received reports from the public that such illegal practices are going on,” he told reporters after chairing the weekly exco meeting here today.
“We have information that land for agriculture purposes have been misused for the rearing of livestock.”
Zambry said the rearing of livestock cannot be allowed in housing areas to safeguard the interests of residents.
He said the authorities are in the midst of identifying such land owners.
“We can also seize the land from the owners,” he added.
