KUALA LUMPUR: Perak’s hopes of closing the gap with league leader, Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) did not materialise when they were beaten 0-2 in a Super League match at Tan Sri Dato’ Haji Hassan Yunos Stadium in Larkin last night.
Earlier both players and spectators observed a minute of silence as a mark of respect on the demise of the mother of the Sultan of Johor, Enche’ Besar Hajah Khalsom Abdullah.
As soon as the first whistle was blown, the squad under Raul Marcos Loghi launched attacks at the Perak goal and they succeeded in netting a goal in the fourth minute through JDT new import Fernando Marquez who coolly converted a penalty as his first personal goal.
The second half saw both sides fighting for goals and in the 83rd minute Jorge Santos Silve slotted the second goal for JDT.
Meanwhile, at Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium in Cheras, hosts Kuala Lumpur blasted Terengganu I FC 3-0 to earn three full points.
The City Boys scored via Zhafri Yahya at the end of the first half while Guilherme De Paula Lucrecio was on target in the 46th minute and Paulo Josue Sturmer completed the rout with the third goal in the 81st minute.
In the clash between Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Perak (PKNP FC) and Pahang at Perak Stadium, Ipoh, the hosts lost 1-2.
PKNP FC had earlier opened the score through their Latvian player, Ritus Krjauklis in the second minute but after the break, Dollah Salleh’s squad came charging back to claim two goals via Gambian Mohamadou Sumareh (74th minute) and Mohd Faisal Abdul Halim (90th+3 minute) for a dramatic win.
In the Premier League, Sabah were defeated 1-3 by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM FC) at home in Likas Stadium.
Goals by UKM FC were netted by Wan Mohammad Faiz Wan Sulaiman in the first minute, Michael Chukwubunna Ijezie (33rd minute) and Sein Nam (90th+3 minute) while the hosts’ only goal was contributed by Hector Omar Ramos Lebron (14th minute).
The match between Felcra FC and Felda United at the Shah Alam Stadium ended in a 1-1 draw.
Christie Jayaseelan was on target for Felda United in the 76th minute before Anselmo de Silva saved Felcra FC three minutes later. — Bernama
