“We will do our level best to champion the people’s issues of not being as an opposition but a government administrator and ensure Labuan will not be sidelined in the national development mainstream.
“When people heard about anything (issues) from Amanah, we must ensure it is not rhetoric of the opposition … as such it is important to listen to recommendations and criticisms from the people and not hide them but take them to the higher authorities for solution,” he said.
Dr Mohd Hatta said the PH government was aware of Labuan being a federal territory was different from other parliament constituencies due to its geographical location and needed immediate attention.
He said as an island federal territory, Labuan must be independent and equipped itself from every important aspect, as the assistance from the government might be slower because it is geographically far from the central government administration in Putrajaya.
Dr Mohd Hatta reminded Labuan Amanah to strengthen unity and maintain the good image of the party and work together with the media fraternity to address the people’s issues.
On the setting up of the Labuan Amanah, with an increased membership of 700 members in 16 branches in three weeks, he said it was a positive indication of the people’s acceptance towards the party’s ideology. — Bernama
