PUTRAJAYA: Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah today opened the Royal Floria Putrajaya 2018 at Precinct 4 here.
He was accompanied by Tengku Permaisuri Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin.
Also present was Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
After delivering his speech, Sultan Sharafuddin and Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin spent time visiting the main attractions of the event, among them the Perak Royal Garden.
On display at the garden are a replica of Istana Kenangan Kuala Kangsar and the Labu Sayung decoration in the middle of a pond lined by an array of flowers as well as a replica of the Kuala Kangsar Clock Tower.
Sultan Sharafuddin was seen taking photographs of the flowers there with his own camera.
Thereafter, they royal couple visited The Enchanted Garden Perbadanan Putrajaya followed by Rendevous Floria 2018 Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur which showcased a multitude of flowers.
They then visited the Floral Pavillion where on show was the creativity of flower decoration by foreign participants.
All in all the royal couple spent about two hours soaking in Malaysia’s largest flower and garden festival,
The Royal Floria Putrajaya 2018, with its theme ’10 Wonders of Floria’, will showcase all the 10 flowers that have been used as its themes from 2007 to 2016 including the hibiscus, orchid, heliconia, rose, bougainvillea, lily and chrysanthemum.
Visiting times are 9am-10.30pm (Mon-Thurs) and 9am – midnight (Fri -Sun).
Ticket prices for Malaysian adults are RM12 (Mon-Thurs) and RM15 (Fri-Sun) while for children RM6 and RM8 respectively.
For non-Malaysians, the rates are RM24 (Mon-Thurs) and RM30 (Fri-Sun). There is a 20 per cent discount for purchase of tickets online. — Bernama
