PETALING JAYA: The futuristic classroom of the 21st century opened its doors today at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan La Salle in Petaling Jaya.
Launched by International Trade and Industry Deputy Minister Dr Ong Kian Ming, the Frog Hub as it is called, has many amenities including internet and air conditioned classrooms.
The facility is equipped with 4G internet connectivity and 41 chromebooks that provide access to the cloud based Frog Virtual Learning Environment (FROG VLE) platform.
“It is important for Malaysian students to be exposed to the best education possible.
“These learning spaces that build creativity, collaboration, critical thinking and communication can benefit all schools in Malaysia,” Ong said at a press conference after officiating the classroom.
The classroom is part of a programme by the YTL Foundation to transform classrooms throughout Malaysia in order to promote technology enabled students.
With the collaboration of the Federal International Holdings Berhad (FIHB), the classroom furniture was designed and manufactured to the students specifications under the tutelage of industry experts from FIHB.
The Frog Classroom programme aims to transform 1,000 classrooms accross Malaysia.
To date, 250 classrooms have been transformed bringing modern teaching and learning to more than 189,000 students and 50,000 teachers in these schools.
Any school can apply to have a Frog Classroom with selection based on a list of criteria.
