KUCHING: Sarawak Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has described Budget 2019’s RM4.3 billion allocation for the state as lacking in detail.
He believes the amount given was only for the building of the Pan Borneo Highway since the details tabled by Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng were too general.
“We are thankful for the budget tabled by the Finance Ministry last night but there’s no clarity. He did not mention allocations for schools and rural development projects,” he told reporters after officiating the Women’s Day 2019 at the Penview Convention Centre, here today.
Abang Johari said he had written an open letter to Guan Eng regarding an allocation for education in the state apart from offering a loan of RM1 billion to the federal government.
According to him, the Sarawak government had yet to receive a reply. — Bernama
