SEREMBAN: For the first time ever, Pakatan Harapan (PH) managed to take over power in Negri Sembilan in a simple majority after winning 20 out of the 36 state seats contested in the 14th General Election (GE14).
Using the PKR logo, the coalition through DAP managed to retain all the 11 seats it won in the last GE13, namely Chennah, Bahau, Nilai, Lobak, Temiang, Bukit Kepayang, Rahang, Mambau, Seremban Jaya (formerly Senawang), Lukut and Repah.
PKR added three more new seats to the score, namely Pilah, Ampangan and Labu, while retaining two existing seats – Sikamat and Chuah, while Amanah took over power in Klawang, Lenggeng and Paroi, Negri Sembilan PH chairman Aminuddin Harun told a press conference here.
In addition, Aminuddin, who is also a three-term Sikamat assemblyman since 2008, said PH had also won five out of eight parliamentary seats in the state.
“We retain the Seremban, Rasah, Port Dickson parliamentary seats and won two additional seats, namely Jempol and Kuala Pilah,” he said.
On their candidate for the post of mentri besar, Aminuddin said the matter would be decided by the top leadership soon.
“For now, we are trying to arrange a meeting with the Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir to inform him on the formation of the new state government,” he said.
According to the Election Commission, as at 1.55am this morning, Barisan Nasional (BN) won 16 state seats while PAS failed to win any.
BN also won three parliamentary seats, namely Jelebu, Jempol and Rembau. — Bernama
